Elizabeth A. Poland, LCSWA
Psychotherapist
About Liz:
Elizabeth (“Liz”) is a clinical social worker whose path into therapy was shaped by lived experience, advocacy, and a deep respect for human resilience. Before earning her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2014, Liz spent several years as a stay-at-home parent. She later worked in leadership roles in business operations and marketing while remaining actively engaged in community volunteering. It was through facilitating mental health and grief support groups that Liz discovered her passion for advocacy and meaningful relational work, prompting her transition into clinical social work.
Liz completed her Master of Social Work with a clinical concentration at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2023 and trained as a clinical social work intern with Peaceful Waters. Her clinical approach is rooted in the belief that symptoms are not failures, but adaptive responses to lived experience. She is especially drawn to working with adults navigating trauma, identity, chronic stress, and the long-term impact of systems that demand too much while offering too little care.
Outside of therapy, Liz is most at home in green spaces, with her hands in the soil and her feet on the earth. She is an avid gardener, reader, podcast listener, and lifelong learner with a particular love for books, community, history, and social justice. Liz brings this same curiosity, warmth, and grounded presence into the therapy room, creating a space that is both compassionate and empowering.
Therapeutic Approach & Vision
Liz’s work is grounded in anti-oppressive and trauma-informed values. She takes a collaborative, person-centered approach that honors the wisdom of the body, the nervous system, and each client’s lived experience. Drawing from bottom-up and experiential modalities - including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), coherence-based approaches, and somatic-informed practices - Liz supports clients moving beyond insight alone, toward meaningful and embodied change.
Her vision is to offer a space where clients can safely explore how past experiences, identity, relationships, and systemic pressures shape their present lives. Liz works to support clients in reconnecting with their values, reclaiming agency, and developing more compassionate relationships with themselves. She is committed to reducing stigma around mental health, challenging oppressive narratives, and fostering healing that is both personal and collective.

Jennifer L. Bach, LCMHCA
Psychotherapist
About Jennifer
Jennifer holds a B.A. in English Literature and Biology from Mount Holyoke College, an M.S. in Secondary Education from Old Dominion University, and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. She has clinical counseling experience in both private practice and intensive outpatient program settings, working with adults overcoming substance use and addressing a wide range of mental health concerns.
Jennifer utilizes a person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed integrated approach in her work with clients. She is committed to honoring each client’s inherent dignity and treating all clients with unwavering respect, free from judgment, as they navigate their personal journeys toward understanding and growth.
Jennifer’s unique professional background has served as a catalyst for her transition into the mental health field, where she approaches counseling with both compassion and practical insight into human behavior and resilience. She is a retired FBI Special Agent who spent over twenty years working complex criminal matters and responding to high-stakes and traumatic operational situations. She also served as an instructor at Quantico in advanced interviewing skills, which enhances her ability to create safe, supportive spaces for difficult conversations and to help clients explore their narratives with depth and authenticity.
Throughout her law enforcement career, she witnessed firsthand the critical need for mental health services and genuine human connection, as well as the profound impacts of trauma on first responders and those in tactical and high-pressure operational roles.
Jennifer deeply understands the unique culture of both law enforcement and the military (her husband served over 32 years in the Navy), including barriers to seeking help such as concerns about privacy, professional stigma, and the challenges of showing vulnerability in careers that demand strength and stoicism. Her insider perspective allows her to provide counseling with cultural competence, discretion, and empathy. She also understands the unique dynamics of loving someone who works in high-risk environments: the inability to fully share experiences, the weight of what remains unspoken, and the impact on relationships and family systems.
Outside of her clinical work, Jennifer enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two children. She loves reading the latest research on longevity, health span, supplementation, and exercise. She also adores her three dogs, especially her Goldendoodle, Asher.
Vision
“I believe that every person carries a unique history of experiences and situations that have shaped who they are, influencing their decisions, choices, and relationships in ways both clearly visible and beneath the surface. Using an integrated, holistic, and strengths-based approach to the collaborative counseling process, I will walk alongside you as you explore these realities and build upon your inherent strengths to redefine your life’s identity in more authentic and fulfilling ways. Scott Neal, LCMHCA
Psychotherapist
About Scott
Scott cares deeply about helping people experience healing, gain clarity, and move forward with renewed direction during difficult seasons of life. For more than thirty years, he has served in pastoral ministry, offering guidance, support, and care to individuals and families facing grief, relationship struggles, life transitions, and personal challenges.
He has served as the Lead Pastor of Forest Park Church in Elizabeth City, North Carolina since 2001. In that role, he has sat with people in hospital rooms, helped couples prepare for marriage, supported families through loss, and encouraged individuals searching for direction, healing, and hope. These experiences shaped his deep respect for each person’s story and his belief that no one should have to face life’s struggles alone.
He is especially comfortable working with individuals navigating life transitions, relationship strain, grief, or questions of meaning and purpose.
He later completed his clinical training with Peaceful Waters Counseling and Wellness Center, where he now works with adults and families from a wide variety of backgrounds. He values helping people slow down, feel understood, and make sense of what they are experiencing and discover practical ways to move forward. His goal is not simply to reduce symptoms, but to help clients build healthier relationships, deeper self-understanding, and renewed confidence about where their life is heading.
Scott has seen that every person carries inherent worth and untapped strength, even when life feels overwhelming. He works to create a safe and supportive space where clients can speak honestly, feel understood, and begin taking meaningful steps toward change.
His counseling approach is collaborative and personalized. He draws from several evidence-based methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems work, mindfulness practices, and person-centered counseling. Scott works with teenagers, adults, couples, and families facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, parenting challenges, and relationship difficulties.
Above all, Scott sees counseling as a partnership. Together, he and his clients identify goals, develop practical strategies, and adjust the process as growth occurs. He hopes each person he meets leaves with greater clarity, deeper hope, and a stronger sense of direction.
Vision
“The stories we believe about ourselves shape the way we live.
Sometimes those stories are filled with disappointment, fear, or self-doubt.
Over time, they can quietly limit what we believe is possible.
Counseling can create space to slow down, reflect, and begin shaping a new story marked by honesty and hope.
You deserve to be heard.
You deserve understanding.
You deserve someone who will walk beside you as you face the past, make sense of the present, and build a healthier future.
I am committed to offering that kind of support. Together, you can work toward healing, renewed purpose, and a life that feels more grounded and meaningful.
No matter where you have been, positive change is possible.
And you do not have to pursue it alone.
If you’re ready to take a next step toward healing or clarity, I would be honored to walk with you."

Vision: "I believe that when individuals grow in their mental wellness, they not only transform their own lives but also positively influence those around them. Our past experiences—especially from childhood—shape how we connect with others, and increasing self-awareness and communication skills can lead to more fulfilling relationships. As people heal and grow, they often become sources of wisdom and support for others. It is a privilege to walk alongside clients through their most difficult challenges, and I believe therapists have a responsibility to continually engage with current research to offer the most effective care. When one person heals, the impact can ripple through families and across generations."
